Camaro: The Car of SEMA

Rafay Ansar

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will wear its status as the official car of SEMA by dressing up in drag--a very cool drag package, that is.

The LS7 Concept channels the spirit of the strip-smoking cars of the late 1960s made famous by Chevy dealers like Don Yenko. As the name implies, it gets the LS7 crate engine that’s been modified to pump out roughly 550 hp and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The souped-up, lowered Victory Red Chevy pony car also gets performance exhaust, custom 20-inch wheels and Brembo brakes.

Chevy is also bringing a Dale Earnhardt Jr. concept that’s styled to his tastes, a sinister Black Concept and yet another need-for-speed car, called the GS Racecar Concept customized after the blue-and-yellow car driven by Trans Am road racer Mark Donohue in 1969. Also expect a car totally tricked out with GM custom parts.
